How to Apply Your DTF Prints

Welcome to Your DTF Application Guide

DTF (Direct-to-Film) prints are durable and vibrant — but getting a perfect result depends on proper application. Follow this guide carefully before pressing your design.

What You'll Need

Option 1: Heat Press (Recommended)

A heat press gives you the most consistent results with even pressure and precise temperature control. We strongly recommend using a heat press for best results.

  • Clamshell or swing-away heat press
  • Teflon sheet or parchment paper

Step-by-Step Application

Step 1: Pre-Press Your Garment

Before applying your DTF print, pre-press your garment for 3–5 seconds to remove any moisture or wrinkles. This helps the transfer bond properly.

Step 2: Position Your Print

Place the DTF print film side up (printed side facing down onto the garment) in your desired location. Use a ruler or t-shirt ruler for accurate centering.

Step 3: Press

  • Temperature: 300 Degrees
  • Pressure: Firm pressure
  • Time: 10 seconds

Cover with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper before pressing to protect the film.

Step 4: Peel

Our DTF prints are  hot peel.

  • Hot Peel: Peel the film immediately after pressing while still hot. Peel slowly and evenly from one corner.

Step 5: Final Press (Optional but Recommended)

After peeling, place a Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the design and press for an additional 5–10 seconds. This improves durability and gives the print a professional finish.

Care & Washing Instructions

To keep your DTF print looking great wash after wash:

  • Wait at least 24 hours after application before washing
  • Wash inside out in cold water
  • Use a gentle cycle
  • Avoid bleach or fabric softener
  • Tumble dry on low heat, or hang to dry
  • Do not iron directly on the print

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does production take?

Most orders are produced and ready within 1–2 business days. During high-demand periods, turnaround may be slightly longer. You'll receive a notification when your order is ready for pickup.

My print isn't sticking — what went wrong?

Common causes include: temperature too low, insufficient pressure, or moisture in the garment. Try pre-pressing longer and ensure your heat press is fully up to temperature before applying.

Can I apply DTF prints to any fabric?

DTF prints work best on cotton, polyester, and cotton/poly blends. Avoid nylon, waterproof fabrics, or materials that can't withstand heat.
